Upto 1983, professional courses like Engineering, Architecture, Medical, Dental, Nursing and Pharmacy etc. were open through government institutions for only a restricted number of students. Many deserving and interested students, thus were not in a position to acquire the professional educational facilities. Additional professional colleges were the need of the day and government has thus permitted the private institutions to conduct professional courses like Engineering, Architecture, Medical, Dental, Nursing and Pharmacy etc.

Founder President Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil took this opportunity to serve the people and thus RA education society was established in 1983 with a noble intention of taking professional education to the doors of the rural masses. Due to this besides other students, deserving students of the rural areas could take up professional education as their career.

RA Education society is gradually expanding its horizons after gaining experience of running a number of professional institutions at New Mumbai, Pune, and Kolhapur.

Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidy Pratishthan Socity was established in the year 1990 with the aim of providing education in all fields to the deserving students and thereby helping them to realize their dreams of a career in professional courses. The educational complex of Pratishthan at Pune has total 75 Acres land at places like Pimpri, Akurdi and Tathawade. The educational complex at Pune has 75 institutions.

At Pune, the Pratishtan has created excellent facilities of education in various faculties such as Architecture, engineering, medical, dental, Ayurved, Homeopathy, Nursing, Physiotherapy, law, management, Biotechnology, Agriculture and Pharmacy etc. which provide world class education to more than 35000 National & International students.
